Presidents Message

Welcome to the Markham Majors / Islanders Hockey Club

The Markham Majors / Markham Islanders organization is extremely proud to have been an integral part of the community of Markham since the organization was founded by Jerry and Sylvia Jacobs in 1979. I am pleased to say that I was a volunteer in the early years coaching both my sons with the Islanders.  I returned in the President's capacity in 2009 to help Randy and Kim Jacobs maintain the heritage, principles and values established by Sylvia and Jerry while continuing to  promote enhancement of the skills and abilities of young players in our hockey community.

Our success directly relates to our committed volunteers and their love of this wonderful sport of hockey. The efforts of these individuals, who tirelessly contribute countless hours of hard work and energy, provides an environment where our children can develop skill and character while forging wonderful friendships.

We are here to assist our players to work on reaching their goals and aspirations. The Markham Islanders/Majors are fortunate to have exceptional coaching and management staff.  Many of our alumnae have gone on to play professional hockey, or have returned to the organization in a coaching or administrative capacity.

The mission of the Markham Islanders/Majors Hockey Organization is to foster team play while nurturing hockey and life skills. We promote fair play, team spirit, a love of the game and commitment to the organization and teammates.

We hope that the positive experience of team play with the Markham Majors/Islanders Hockey Club will be influential to our young persons in future endeavours in sport and in life.
